Life can be consumed with everyday tasks (take out the trash, look into Compare Electricity Rates in Houston rates, feed the dog) but when you’ve got free time if you’re anything like us you love to let off some steam by catching up on your wrestling news. With the summer Olympics just around the corner we’ve got a list of the top three wrestlers to watch this year. Get on board! Jordan Burroughs – This kid’s about as all-American as they comehe was all state at Nebraska and in the Olympic trials earlier this year he literally blew the crowd away. He’s got the moves but the question is whether he’s got the stamina to bring home a medal in London this summer. Jake Herbert – He currently resides in NYC and he’s no stranger to the field. Competing for Northwestern back in 2007 he won nationals and he’s a silver medalist at the World Championships, in which he’s competed twice. He’s no small competitor. Spenser Mango – He’s a member of the US Army and he specializes in Greco-Roman style – he’s a force to be reckoned with and he’s only 25 years old. He’s the talent to watch in London – he may just surprise us all.

The wrestlers of today are much more flashy than the wrestlers in the past. The business of professional wrestling has become a multi-million dollar empire. People that were fans of the older wrestling confederation did not invest as much time as fans do today.
The wrestlers of today have huge pay-per-view matches. The hype behind this is as big as a boxing match. This is how the concept has changed. The wrestlers, in many instances, have become something like celebrities. They have games with characters based on the most popular wrestlers. They sell T-shirts, posters, and all types of memorabilia.
The many thing that separates these professionals from the wrestlers of the past is the opportunities that are granted to them. Wrestlers like Tyson Kidd, The Miz, and R-Truth are at the top of the world’s wrestling dynasty.
The WWF has also become sexier as a result of all of the hoopla. Female wrestlers are getting tossed into the mix. The girls associated with the wrestlers are also a great side show attraction.
Much of what is seen is like a scripted reality show. The stunts are greater and the drama is played out on a much larger scale today.

Of the hundreds of wrestling matches put on every year, many are great, and some are even memorable, but few are good enough to be remembered decades later. Here’s a look at some wrestling match-ups that have made history. Every wrestling fan owes it to himself to watch these feuds at least once.
Many believe that NWA’s feud between Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat in the 1980s produced the greatest matches American wrestling has ever seen. The only disagreement is which of their matches was better — the epic 54-minute two-out-of-three-falls match at Clash of the Champions in April 1989, or their title match a month later at the Music City Showdown. From their first meetings in the late 1970s, Flair and Steamboat brought the best out of each other in and out of the ring. Fans loved the humble, determined Steamboat just as much as they loathed the arrogant loudmouth Flair,
Bret Hart was involved in many memorable feuds in his career, including with Steve Austin, the British Bulldog, and his cousin Owen Hart, but his greatest feud was probably with Shawn Michaels in the 1990s WWF. The Hart/HBK feud was nasty business, driven by a genuine hatred between the men behind the scenes, but the bad blood only pushed them to produce awesome matches, like their iron man match at Wrestlemania XIII in 1996. The feud ended explosively with the infamous Montreal Screwjob in 1997, a moment that has been imitated and referenced countless times in later years.
Other historically important match-ups worth a look include:
Undertaker vs. Mankind, WWF, 1990s — immortalized by Mick Foley’s Hell in a Cell plunge
Flair vs. Sting — one of wrestling’s longest-running feuds, spanning over 30 years and three promotions
Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven, ECW, 1990s — brutal battles between the seemingly unstoppable Dreamer and Raven’s Flock
Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon, WWF, 1990s — the birth of WWF’s “Attitude Era”
